Changing to the ordering of the Hunt Catalog. I only have about half the enemies myself though. Still adding to the page. Left English blank on a few where I'm not sure on the katakana -- most of my FF games have been in English until recently, so might be a mob type I'm not familiar with the Japanese name of, etc.
Also, for サボテン, Cactuar, Cactrot, Saboten, or what? For now I'll leave enemies in that family with Saboten in the name. FFXI uses both, so Square doesn't seem sure themselves. (Saboten is used more, though)
Skipped numbers I don't have, leaving a blank space implies the enemy is there, and on a few I'm not sure if the blank spot belongs in one area or another.

Finished adding everything in my Hunt Catalog right now, except a few under Archadian Empire that I don't know the kanji on. For reference, or if anybody needs it/wants to revive it, the Bestiary before I messed with it is at http://ff12trans.pbwiki.com/jpbst-old

Whenever possible, let's try to use the official English names for monsters. FFXI is an exception to this. Since all the monsters were being named in English and there was such disparity between the English and Japanese name versions, they incorporated both. Saboten should be translated as Cactuar.

Also, if anyone is feeling VERY ambitious, you are free to branch out and translate the individual monster text (which provides some interesting background), unlocked when you kill x number of whatever monsters. Use the following format for naming monster pages: Monst###. ^_^

I was thinking about trying some of the individual pages, though I don't know enough kanji yet to be able to transcribe them quickly. That and even with AA turned off, detailed kanji aren't always very clear since I'm playing the game on a 720p native LCD HDTV through composite input
If anybody else has transcribed them somewhere and can point me at the text though, I can give it a shot. In the meantime, I'll change Saboten to Cactuar, and add a couple more enemies I've run into.

I saw that in the game the other day and I just about had a heart attack. We're talking about nearly 400 pages of text here alone.

Yeah, there's a lot of text to the hunt catalog entries.
I have far too much free time though, thus wishing I could find transcripts online or something.

As a note, guys, someone posted on the Gamefaqs message boards with a link to a Chinese website that has full screenies of all the Rare Monsters. I put that in the resources section, if anyone wants to transcribe those and put those up. I put an example of what sort of format I'm shooting for on the Monst330 page.
